The Client
Nuffield Health is the UK’s largest healthcare charity, operating hospitals, medical centres, and fitness and wellbeing clubs across the country. Cleanliness is a critical operational priority for the organisation, supporting both patient safety and member experience.
The facility at The Apiary, Granta Park in Great Abington, Cambridgeshire, is a large and complex leisure and wellbeing centre that combines fitness facilities with healthcare-oriented services.
The site includes a variety of operational areas such as gyms, sports courts, swimming pools, saunas, changing rooms, communal spaces, and catering zones. Each area requires tailored cleaning procedures to maintain hygiene standards and ensure safe daily operation.

The Challenge
Managing cleaning operations in a large health and fitness facility presents a number of challenges. High visitor numbers, extended operating hours, and the presence of wet environments such as pools and saunas all increase the complexity of maintaining hygiene standards.
The facility requires consistent cleaning across multiple zones, including gym equipment, communal areas, changing rooms, reception spaces, and specialist sports areas. At the same time, cleaning must be carefully scheduled to minimise disruption to members and staff.

The Solution
Since March 2023, the commercial cleaning contract for the Granta Park facility has been delivered by SOS4U Standon Solutions Ltd.
